Granado Espada is the only mmorpg I've ever played where the majority of players bot, and many feel it's a greater moral wrong to report botters than to cheat. After all, if everyone bots, then those who protest are going against the will of the community and ratting out their game brothers. IAH itself was persuaded by this argument, and infamously chose to 'close one eye' rather than enforce either it's own or the anti-cheat terms of the contract they signed with the Granado Espada's developers, IMC (Sample contract ).Most of the forum community maintains an anti-botting stance. There have been a few minor scandals when a high-profile player was 'outed' as a botter, and some players who continue to inveigh against botting have given into what they see as the realities of Singapore un-management of Granado Espada: nothing is sadder than running across one of the forum admins botting in-game.

I really can't blame them, though, since IAH so thoroughly stacked the deck against legit players. (Click on View All to see all the forum screenshots full size.)The background to coming across this is actually pretty funny. Some guy from OneMsia faction posted 'The Report Botter Feature Rant' in Granado Espada's official forum: supposedly he was outraged on behalf the innocent victims being caught by the in-game utility players can use to send botters to 'jail'.

Because bot scripts include an alarm to warn when they've been reported, this feature almost never works to catch botters, and so any hue and cry about 'innocent victims' going to jail instead will get some attention. However, while this OneMsia guy was proclaiming his innocence on the forum, he was posting bot script updates on his:The botter deleted this post before I looked at the blog, so I apologize to the guy who posted this screenshot (I pinched this screenshot from him). However, there was a feed at the side of the forum with the curious title 'DirMon.exe bot report alarm and ai nutkungx command.' Oh my, the OneMsia guy forgot to delete the post with instructions on how to set the bot report alarm:Sorry I had to break the post up in three parts. The picture above shows the distributor is ge.rpgster.net. (and SEED SEED SEED!!!).I wish I had the skillz to infiltrate the bot distributor nest and out the Granado Espada players most responsible for corrupting everyone else.

At the very least, everyone who registers for cheat sites like this may be putting their regular. I wouldn't be surprised a large hacking organization had the capability of matching and aggregating credentials from a number of sources. So sadly I can't help bust anyone specific. However, the purpose of this post is to make sure notice and discussion of it hasn't been suppressed on the official forum, enabling IAH to ignore bot distributor web sites in general. Also if any legit players want to sturm and drang over it, they are welcome here. The legit community needs action, and nothing gets action like united, 'heated' discussion.Ps. Attention - do you see this?

In a way the Auto-Keep incident was good, because it demonstrated IAH was doing nothing about tickets. Here's the infamous picture:This picture is proof that IAH does not enforce its own Terms of Service, even when they receive direct ticket requests.Yet even though everyone can see this picture, IAH's front-people insist that saying they don't enforce their ToS is a 'flame' that 'defames' IAH, and that people who say that IAH throws out tickets 'don't know anything' and are engaging in 'conspiracy theories'.Of course the community doesn't know the inner-workings of IAH. Companies find it in their interest to hide as much of their internal workings as possible. They will ALWAYS be able to claim their critics don't know what's really going on.However, that picture alone makes IAH's position a lie, and it vindicates everyone they've been tried to smear and shut up.Here's a random image from the web site where people posted the prices of their items in SG dollars on a regular basis (player presumably now gone):IAH didn't investigate any of the players involved, and some of them went on to be able to buy the most valuable items in Granado Espada directly from IAH at local 'Events'. IAH staff seemed astounded anyone would pay $1000 for a virtual item.

It's not so much if the player can turn around and sell it to other players for more. The trick is to not be the last one holding the item when changes in game content change its value.IAH's credibility is zero right now. I may not be able to get them to do anything about botting, but I may be able to raise their awareness that they need to change the way they communicate with players. IAH needs to actively restore customer trust.

Bot

I saw the big effort you've put in making this post, I do hope IAH realizes your true intentions for the game. They've been trying to brand your criticisms as detrimental and hating to the game itself conveniently missing the fact that if it were true, you would have quit the game a long time ago.IAH missed implementing a bot free SGE a long time ago. They failed to arrest it in its bud and now its too late. Killing it will kill the most of the gaming population. Like a parasite that already took over its host. I feel that most gamers were at one point had it in them to play legit, succumbing only when botting became rampant.

Afterall, they are the ones who quickly rose to the top. Looking at the early days of the forum, the community is one in condemning botters. You can still see them troll those who inadvertently confessed their botting but you'll never know who among them are also doing it. This is where SOTNW obviously holds an ace, they have better control of botters and it really makes them attractive to the legit players. GELazy is, thank god, no longer issue. Not because IAH intervened: the developer just stopped updating it.

No more hordes of farmbots on all the maps. There's also a fraction of a chance to actually report the remaining botters, since they are using free scripts. One has to wonder what is going to happen to the GELazy credentials database? Sold in bulk maybe? The hacking outbreak occurred a few months later. (though I know for sure that some affected never used GELazy).BTW - 6 trojans? Holy crap - what were those trojans doing?

I wonder if people who buy accounts other think about whether they are already compromised? And how many buy one with over 9000 rat meat in jail experience? Well serves them right. XDI'm sure the distributors regard themselves as outright heroic, and I haven't seen any analysis of the free ones. I know people email them to each other after every patch. The saddest thing about RMT is it's like musical chairs: there is always the sucker at the end who was the last one to buy while all the savvy sellers moved on to the next hot mmorpg.

I'm the first to agree IAH put themselves in an impossible position when they let bots flourish in the first place. Now they are left with a player population that relies on third party programs, against the ToS and their contract with IMC. The players themselves endanger their accounts and their computers. Everyone is cynical about competing, which should be the highlight of any game. Unfortunately true competition is premised on fairness.Players don't have to bot, though. I never have and never will. It's just sad that following the ToS makes me slower to level, unable to participate in the market, and unable to participate in the best content.And.IAH's philosophy conflicts with Blizzard's: they won't be able to hold together that business partnership, and it will be IAH's loss.

It really saddens me that so many players who genuinely loved Granado Espada participated in 'normalizing' bots. It's really no use arguing with them, though, because once botting is the norm, then anyone who argues against must be a narc and a killjoy. Whatever 'everyone' is doing must be right. All my blame, however, is reserved for IAH.

They created the context for normalized botting when they admitted they 'closed one eye', when they ignored all the tickets, when they refused to provide in-game GMs even to the most obvious botting hotspots, and when they developed promotions intended to reward botters while punishing legit players. IAH fell for the loud voices of botters around them, and as a result their business was sabotaged. Now they have lost most legit customers, encouraged an environment that puts the remaining customers' accounts at risk, and the importance of fairness in a gaming context continues to elude them.I've never been a competitive gamer, so I can just do my own thing until GE dies the miserable death that IAH's poor business practices doomed it to. I just hope some other start-up gaming company has kept tabs on how IAH destroyed Granado Espada so perhaps the next game I try will be a better gaming experience.
